One month after the announcement of Large Netflix makeoverit’s the turn of Canal+ to put a nine welcome to its application, the Canal+app.
This Wednesday, June 11, the encrypted channel held a press conference to present to journalists, including Digitalthe new version of its reader. An update that certainly has the ambition to improve the user experience, but above all to adapt to new uses. We take stock.
Goodbye mycanal, hello the Canal+ app
At the heart of his studio in Boulogne-Billancourt, Canal+ has treated the staging to honor the start-up of his app: giant screens, connected cars, Air France space, Apple Vision Pro or Inflated Robot at AI … The encrypted chain says it and repeat: “Tech and innovation at the heart of a new experience.”

First change for the Canal+ app: more readability and intuitiveness. The clarity and position of the reader’s icons were reviewed, and they won in particular in size. A new timeline is now accessible by a long support of the screen and allows you to navigate in the content. In addition, navigation highlights useful features (reading, pause, returning forward or rear).
Speaking of features, some become more accessible, such as zooming on the program for full screen, change the volume by touching the left side of the screen, or adjusting the brightness by touching the right side. The icon becomes an accessory and everything is done “on the finger”, as on many social networks.
Swiper like on Tiktok
It is not the only mechanics stung on social networks, and particularly in Instagram, Tiktok and Company. Indeed, this new version of the Canal+ app will allow you, whether on smartphone or tablet, to change its chain by “swilaping” on the left or right.
It will also allow in one gesture to reveal the current programs, to come or have passed on direct, or to access all the episodes and seasons of a series.

It must be admitted, this new stroke does a lot of good to the Canal+ application: the new interface and the new interaction mechanics are intuitive, as desired. Canal+ seems to be extricating a little from its slightly dated interface to catch up with Netflix.
But it is a shame that this feet is not accompanied by an update of the home page of the app (and the MyCanal site), too busy and not very readable, or of the too imprecise search engine. Asked, the group tells us to do things step by step and that other improvements will come. We hope.

An immersive document for Apple Vision Pro
Finally, Canal+ took the opportunity to announce the release of a new sports and immersive documentary designed for the Apple Vision Pro. This documentary, produced in collaboration with Apple and MotoGP and filmed with the Blackmagic Ursa Cine immersive camera, places us as close as possible to the historic victory of Johann Zarco during the last Grand Prix de France.

If we could not see the entire film, his trailer viewed with Apple Vision Pro is a real slap. We are looking forward to motorcycle fans (and the owners of the expensive Apple machine) can enjoy the show. See you in September on Canal+… so the new app.
