Nintendo continues to lift the veil on Mario Kart Worldthe future episode designed for The Switch 2, which will be released on June 5. If the title marks an assumed rupture with the classic heritage of the series – open world, exploration, new issues -, certain notable absences begin to emerge. And one of them, rather unexpected, does not go unnoticed among the experienced PLSU players.

Those who hoped to tame the turns at an unreasonable look will have to wait. Questioned by Rolling Stoneproducer Kosuke Yabuki confirmed that Mario Kart World At its launch, at its launch, at 150cc. Exit therefore the 200cc, this turbo mode introduces free on Wii U in 2015, which had given an unprecedented boost to the license. No final red light, however: Nintendo leaves the door ajar.

“” “Does this mean that we are going to consider displacement over 150cc in Mario Kart World? Unfortunately I cannot say anything for the moment“Said Yabuki. An answer while dodging, like the blue shells that we see sometimes coming too late.

The absence of the 200cc is not trivial. For a fringe of demanding players, this speed raised offers a new challenge: millimeter trajectories, sharp reflexes, unforgivable errors. By removing this mode, Mario Kart World seems to bet on accessibility, especially by integrating an open world which could already shake up habits.

Is the choice dictated by technical constraints? A concern for balance in online races? Or – a more likely hypothesis – a card carefully guarded for a future paid DLC? Mystery. Like the possible return of Diddy Kong, another question to which Kosuke Yabuki was satisfied with a diplomatic smile. In the meantime, turbo purists will have to settle for a quieter gameplay. But with Nintendo, nothing is never frozen.
