Tesla finds her health in China, but not (yet?) In Europe

The media has been in the long term for several months around the drop in sales of Tesla, actually quite alarming in several markets. Remember, however, that this beginning of the year was marked by the renewal of Model Y, the Tesla gold egg hen. It was therefore preferable to wait for the first figures on its commercial performance before burying the manufacturer a little too quickly.
If it will still be necessary to wait before drawing a real assessment of the brand's boycott by certain customers, of the first elements already allow you to observe some trends. Upstream of the publication of Tesla's sales figures in the first quarter of 2025, expected this Wednesday, April 2, let's already look at the brand's commercial performance in China and various European markets.
Tesla in the phase of signing its best start to year on the Chinese market
In the Middle Empire, where the first deliveries of the restyled Model intervened at the end of February, Tesla has already regained its health. In March, the model has sold 43,370 units there, making the country's best -selling electric car last month, reports Teslarati. According to the brand specialist's calculations Tsla chanTesla should reach nearly 140,000 sales in China in the first quarter of the year, more than than 2024 and 2023 over the same period.
A still complex situation in Europe
In Europe however, we do not observe (yet?) Return to normal. Reuters thus analyzed Tesla sales in the first quarter in France, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Portugal and Italy. On each of these eight markets, Tesla sales in Q1 2025 are decreasing compared to Q1 2024. During the month of March alone, where Tesla started deliveries of certain versions of the Model y restyled in Europe, the brand still experienced an increase from its sales from one year to the other in Italy and Spain, as well as a very slight increase in Portugal.
Note however that, unlike the Chinese market, all versions of the restyled Model have not yet been delivered in Europe. Thus, the most popular propulsion models will arrive in a second step. These are the cheapest and the only ones to be eligible for the ecological bonus in France, which explains at least in part the 37 % drop in sales of Tesla in France in March 2025 compared to March 2024 (41 % decrease in Q1 2025 compared to Q1 2024).
If Tesla's sales are likely to suffer from the image of Elon Musk in the medium term, the short -term situation is still complex to analyze. The next few months will say more with the rise in the production of the restyled model, which or not attracts customers.
