So far adored for its advanced technology and its futuristic image, Tesla crosses a delicate period. Indeed, the prices of its used cars undergo a spectacular tumble, far exceeding the decline observed throughout the automotive market.

Used Tesla depreciate 3 times faster than competition
Behind these cold statistics hides a less brilliant reality for the owners. There Very popular Model 3considered for a long time as a solid investment, today loses 11.5 % of its value in only twelve months. Same observation for Model yhowever acclaimed by the family public, which displays a fall of 13.56 %. With the notable exception of Model X, slightly up these last thirty days, all other flagship models have seen their side slide down.
Cybertruck embodies the crisis alone. Victim of the end of speculation fueled by his rarity (and a bad reputation in terms of reliability), it now displays a vertiginous loss of 58 % in one year, including more than 11 % over the last three months. This disturbing trend reflects an increasing disinterest in a vehicle which was however highly anticipated.
At this point, several reasons explain this phenomenon. First, Tesla's aggressive tariff policy on its new vehicles has turned the secondary market upside down. By reducing prices from new to 35 % on certain models, the American manufacturer has mechanically led to a drop in occasion prices.
Added to this is an important psychological factor: the growing negative perception linked to the many controversies around Elon Musk. In addition to being rejected by French companies, the emblematic boss of the firm will have pushed many drivers to detach from Tesla, further amplifying the overabundance of announcements on specialized sites.

At the same time, in France, this devaluation is accompanied by a sharp increase in the number of announcements on Leboncoin, explains the platform at Figaro. According to the French platform, used Tesla announcements have increased by 30 % in the past six months, with even an acceleration of 50 % just in the last month. This phenomenon is particularly marked in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and in the Grand Est.
But this explosion of supply does not encounter equivalent demand. Leboncoin even notes a significant drop in interest: the share of views of Tesla announcements has dropped from 40 % to 37 % among all the electric vehicles offered. Result: sellers consent to significant discounts, lowering their prices by around 3000 euros on average, or almost 10 % of the initial price.
If this situation represents a real problem for current owners, it nevertheless constitutes an opportunity for new potential buyers; Used Teslan becomes gradually more accessible to a wider audience, even if it severely tarnishes the initial prestige associated with the Californian brand.
