India nugget, cheap (and 81/100 on Metacritic …). The Bug Butcher is a 2D horizontal scrolling shot game where the danger comes from the sky. The game is nervous and ultra-fast, it recalls both Doom and the Old-School platform games (Super Pang for example).
The player embodies a crazy insect hunter, equipped with a substantial arsenal, including a hear and a chainsaw, to eliminate hordes of repugnant creatures in levels designed as arenas. The gameplay is focused on the constant movement, the Dash, the rebound on enemies and the strategic use of weapons and special capacities to survive and progress.
The title is distinguished by its unique artistic direction, mixing organic and technological environments, as well as by its delirious and bloody atmosphere. It offers a high challenge rewarding the agility, precision and control of the combat system. The variety of enemies, the ingenuity of levels and the possibility of unlocking new weapons and improvements offer appreciable replayability.
It is a demanding but rewarding game for those looking for a frenzied and stylized action experience.
