Some smartphones never seem to die at Samsung, and without much surprise, these are high -end models. Indeed, the South Korean firm has chosen to resuscitate the Galaxy S20 with a new update, while its software follow-up had been recently finished.

What does the unexpected update from August 2025 to the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra?

Latest news, the Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra received the March 2025 patch as the final update. This version ended the five years of security software monitoring promised to launch smartphones in 2020.

Against all expectations, Samsung has not really finished with this generation. Sammyguru indeed noticed the arrival of an additional update, for the moment reserved for operator customers Verizon. It more precisely includes the fixes made in July 2025.

As a reminder, this security patch tackles 22 vulnerabilities linked to Android, corrected by Google, and 18 flaws closed by Samsung – whether about its ONE UI software overlay or its processors. For the most curious, discover more information on this subject in our article dealing with theArrival of this version on the Galaxy S25 and S24.

At a time when we write these lines, no information has been shared by Samsung concerning the arrival of this update on models that are no longer officially supported. A practice so far not very common for the manufacturer, who has moreover abandoned several other models recently.

It remains to be seen whether Samsung will officially bow in terms of software monitoring on the Galaxy S20 with this version, or if others will arrive in the future to give their latest users a little rab.

In any case, this again confirms the seriousness of the South Korean firm in this area, where other manufacturers are limited to 2 or 3 years of updates-which drastically limits the sustainability of smartphones.
