The HP EliteBook X G1 is focusing on on -board AI to seduce the pros
With its new professional portable PC boosted at AI, HP wants to meet the new challenges of productivity, security and collaboration. On the program: integrated NPU, on -board AI assistant and local protection arsenal. What make you forget the cloud?
While generative artificial intelligence continues to burst into professional uses, HP now incorporates it in its PCs. The latest addition to the Elitebook range, the X G1, is a showcase of this approach. This laptop intends to combine computing power, contextual assistant and reinforced security. An ambitious bet, at a time when companies are looking to equip themselves for hybrid, secure and more fluid work.
An NPU dedicated to AI, for more autonomy and less latency
First singularity: this PC does not depend on the remote servers for its IA features. Thanks to an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) on board, a coprocessor specializing in artificial intelligence tasks, the HP Elitebook X G1 can locally manage heavy IA calculations, while preserving the autonomy of the machine. HP thus promises a more fluid experience, with a dynamic modulation of resources according to the context of use (navigation, meeting, office automation, etc.).
In other words, AI does not turn “in the cloud”, but directly in the belly of the PC. Result: less network dependence, less transfers of sensitive data, and better controlled energy consumption.
AI Companion: the context assistant goes up a gear
One of the notable additions of this model is AI Companion, an integrated personal assistant. HP designed it to adapt to the real needs of users, via three main functions:
ASK: a natural language request engine to search for information, generate content or ask business questions
Analyze: a function of summary, analysis or comparison of documents, useful for sorting or writing reports
Perform: an automatic optimization panel that adjusts PC settings according to the activity (Conf Call, displacement, intensive task, etc.).
The approach is intended to be sober: no gadget effects, but tools integrated into the bone and directly exploitable on a daily basis, without subscription or plug-in third party.
A webcam that follows the action and a microphone that isolates the voice
On the collaboration side, the EliteBook X G1 incorporates Poly Camera Pro, a webcam assisted by IA. It offers a dynamic framing that follows the interlocutor, adjusts the brightness in real time, applies a professional identity filter and cleans the audio of parasitic noise.
Everything is thought of to recreate a “face -to -face” experience even from a distance.
A good point too: the system captures multiple voices better during a meeting with several participants, to avoid the “robotic voice in open space” effect.
Security: AI also in the service of confidentiality
HP puts the package on security, a still sensitive area when it comes to AI. The approach here is clear: everything remains locally. No upload on external servers to run the IA tools. A clear advantage for companies concerned with protecting their internal data.
The PC also has the features of HP Wolf Security, with some welcome refinements:
Onlooker Detection: The screen detects a third -party look and automatically activates confidentiality mode, blurring sensitive information;
Auto-Lock: The computer locks as soon as the user moves away, without manual intervention.
These devices are added to a software set designed for environments with a strong constraint (finance, health, legal, etc.).
A mobile but muscular format
On the design side, the EliteBook X G1 remains faithful to the EliteBook line: compact format, aluminum frame, backlit and complete connective keyboard (USB-C, HDMI, SIM port according to the configs).
HP announces a comfortable autonomy, although no figure has yet been certified in mixed IA/videoconferencing use.
Our opinion
With this model, HP is not content to surf the ia wave: it integrates it at the heart of the user experience, without sacrificing autonomy or security. If the promises are held in real use, the EliteBook X G1 could become a referent of intelligent pros PCs, especially in demanding hybrid environments.
