The trailer for the live-action Moana film has just been released… and we’re sick of it
Barely ten years after capturing the hearts of animation fans, Moana is back in theaters in a live-action version of Disney studio film. But Mickey’s house may well present this Vaiana, the legend of the end of the world like a live-action “reinterpretation” of the 2016 feature film, the first trailer for the film suggests a carbon copy… and it gets tiring.
Yet another tasteless live-action adaptation
For a dozen years, Disney has enjoyed regularly bringing its greatest classics up to date through live-action remakes.

Increasingly lacking original ideas, the Walt Disney studio is now even starting to remake films that are barely 10 years old, as is the case with this new version of Moana.
A first trailer for this film, starring the young Catherine Laga’aia in the role of Vaiana and Dwayne Johnson in the role of the demigod Maui, surfaced yesterday on the web, and it seems to indicate that Disney is persisting and moving in one direction: remaking almost the same film each time.

While they always offer a slight variation from the original, Disney’s live-action remakes remain essentially copy and paste of their animated version, even going so far as to recreate exactly the same shots.

Beyond the financial interest of this type of remake for Disney, we can only wonder about the artistic approach behind its films and wonder why the studio refuses so much to offer less superficial adaptations and, in this specific case, what is the point of remaking a film barely a decade old.

The studio’s approach is therefore undoubtedly to continue making this type of remake as long as they are in theaters, and the success of Lilo & Stitch proves that the trend is not ready to reverse. For our part, we would like that to be the case, because these films serve no purpose from an artistic point of view.
In addition to the trailer, Disney also released a first official poster for the film:

So instead of rushing to theaters to see Vaiana, the legend of the end of the world on July 8, 2026, we invite you to (re)discover the 2016 animated film, as well as its sequel Moana 2 released last year, available for streaming on Disney+.
