The ZFEs did not finish with motorists

The adoption of the “Simplification law” of the National Assembly “ buried the ZFEs. Among the many amendments are the abolition of these areas which exclude the most polluting vehicles of the city centers.

A petition for the ZFEs to be maintained
Since its inception, this device has crystallized tensions around social issues. And for good reason: modest households cannot afford a new, less polluting vehicle to be able to circulate in town.
In short, a measure that penalizes the modest populations who find themselves unable to acquire models with a better Crit’Air.
The petition “For the maintenance of low -emission zones (ZFE): Right to pure air!” was deposited on the official website of the National Assembly. Paul Walther is its initiator and he defends the effectiveness of the system by citing the Parisian, Grenoble and Lyonnais results, where “The first data showed a significant drop in air pollution”.
The petition is still far from the threshold of 100,000 signatures required to trigger a parliamentary debate. But its upload is recent and it will therefore allow supporters to mobilize.
Paul Walther insists on climate urgency by explaining that “Air pollution is responsible for nearly 40,000 premature deaths each year in France”.
The final abolition of the ZFEs will be played during the joint joint committee in September. This is a crucial step that will tell us if the suppression is effective or if the arguments of the defenders will make the government go back.
In the event of the abolition of ZFEs, France will be exposed to heavy European sanctions. Brussels initiated and subsidized these areas as part of its environmental policy. Their abandonment would therefore be very delicate diplomatic.
