This message from WhatsApp is not (yet) advertising

A few weeks ago, WhatsApp sent a first new message to its users without warningdirectly within the application as a lambda conversation. Meta’s messaging service, which also begins to integrate advertisingto this June 17, 2025 decided to communicate again directly via a message. It is therefore not a scam attempt by a tier, quite the contrary, since this completely official message concerns security.

WhatsApp invites its users to strengthen their safety

In this communication, Meta invites WhatsApp users to provide an email address to their account, generally based solely on their phone number. This approach, always optional, makes it possible to offer a more practical and secure alternative to the verification SMS received when you connect again after a disconnection or when you change the terminal to use the service.

This should also make it possible to better prepare the ground for the next abandonment of telephone numbers by the platform, for the benefit of user names.

To add an email address to its WhatsApp account, simply click on the link in the message. Otherwise, head to the parameters (via the three points at the top right), then count and finally email address. It will then suffice to check your email by clicking in the link received by email.

Recall that for more security it can also be a good idea to activate the verification in two steps. Finally, if you wish to no longer receive communications from WhatsApp, it is possible to block the conversation as for any contact.
