Toy Story 5: Buzz and Woody terrified of technology in Pixar film teaser

The first trailer for Toy Story 5 has arrived! But it doesn’t bode well for Buzz, Woody and their friends because the age of toys may well be over for little Bonnie, who is now turning her attention to technology.

Although Andy grew up in the era of video games, he still really liked playing with his plastic toys, like Buzz, Woody or even Rex the dinosaur. But little Bonnie, who inherited this bunch of toys in Toy Story 3evolves in a world where technology is omnipresent.

It is therefore not surprising that the teaser for Toy Story 5 put the little girl’s toys in front of a tablet that scares them. They were already not reassured when Buzz and his laser arm arrived in 1995, so obviously a connected tablet in the shape of a frog in the 2020s is scary.

“Equipped with the latest cutting-edge technologies and ready to do anything to put an end to the reign of traditional toys, this tablet will quickly assert itself as a formidable rival and give Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the whole gang a hard time,” tells the synopsis of the animated film.

In the original version, the tablet called Lilypad is voiced by Greta Lee (Past Lives), and we still find in the cast of the franchise Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Tony Hale. We also know that actor Conan O’Brien is there in the role of a tech toy helping with potty training, named Smarty Pants.

Andrew Stanton, director of the first film in the franchise, is behind the camera for this new installment with McKenna Harris (Hello Alberto), and also wrote the screenplay for the feature film.

“Exploring how our favorite toy team might react to today’s technological world has been a journey for us that is as hilarious as it is emotional,” the duo said. “We’re thrilled to share this first look with audiences. Having the chance to have Greta Lee’s remarkable talent bring Lilypad to life – striking the right balance between playful and antagonistic, humor and sensitivity – has been an incredible experience!”

Toy Story 5 will be released in theaters on June 17, 2026 and until then, the other films in this Pixar saga can be found streaming on Disney+.
