When it was announced, the T1 presented itself as a “100% made in USA” device – a rare promise in a sector where production is mainly Asian. This “patriotic” positioning aimed to seduce clientele in search of national products, and by extension, to foot the electorate of the 47th President of the United States.

But today, any explicit mention of American manufacturing has been removed from the site. The banner proudly displaying this origin is no longer there. Instead, the smartphone is now described as “Designed with American values” or “worn by American hands”. Wave formulations that do not confirm its real assembly place.

A turnaround accompanied by technical adjustments

In addition to the change of speech, other details on the product sheet have been modified:

  • Screen size: Initially announced at 6.78 inches, it is now 6.25 inches.
  • RAM (RAM): The promise of 12 GB has been deleted without explanation.
  • Delivery date : Pushed back to an indefinite period, it was first scheduled for September.

These modifications, added to the disappearance of the “Made in America” label, strengthen suspicions of a change of supplier or model along the way – potentially towards a simply rebounded device. In addition, pre -order requires a first payment of $ 100, before paying the remaining $ 399 at the time of shipping.

Confused origins, despite recent claims

A Trump Mobile spokesperson, however, said the device was made of Alabama, California and Florida. But no concrete element (suppliers, factories, partners) came to confirm these remarks. Even Eric Trump, the son of the whimsical president, acknowledged that American manufacturing was an objective to be achieved … and not an immediate reality.

This ambiguity recalls other already seen marketing strategies, such as the inscription “Designed in California” on the iPhone, while their manufacture takes place entirely in Asia.
