Ult Field 3 & Ult Field 5: Sony boosts its ULT range with powerful and festive speakers
One year old just out of the portable speakers Ult Field 1 And Ult Field 7Sony unveils two new intermediate references called Ult Field 3 and Ult Field 5. The Japanese brand completes its range of festive speakers with the Ult Tower 9, which joins the monstrous Ult Tower 10.
Observed for the first time in 2024, the ULT stamping applies to the ranges of products intended for low amateurs. Sony intends to completely abandon its portable speakers of old generation by 2026 to devote itself entirely to ULT products.
Ult Field 3: A compact and enduring speaker for all trips
Wider and deeper than the Ult Field 1, the Ult Field 3 has been designed to offer more sound immersion at home or on the go. Composed of a woofer and a tweeter accompanied by a pair of passive radiators, its sound architecture is however substantially identical to that of its elder. Its control interface obviously retains a ULT key dedicated to the amplification of the bass. The autonomy of the Ult Field 3 is promised at 24 hours, with a quick charge of 10 min offering up to 2 hours of listening. Like the Ult Field 1, it is equipped with an integrated microphone to take calls without having to disconnect its smartphone.
Ult Field 5: sound power in a transportable format
With dimensions of 356 x 181 x 163 mm and a weight of 3.3 kg, the Ult Field 5 is twice as large and heavy as the Ult Field 7. It therefore aims to combine sound power and transportability. Composed of a woofer surrounded by a pair of tweeters, the Ult Field 5 abandons a woofer compared to its elder Ult Field 7. In addition, it stands out from the “little” Ult Field 3 by its two ULT keys. Ult 1 strengthens the extreme serious, while Ult 2 equalizes the tone of the enclosure to bring more energy and speed to the bass.
The Ult Field 5 would have an autonomy of 25 hours, an hour more compared to Ult Field 3. Its fast load function promises 1 h 40 min of reading for 10 minutes of load. Like Sony evening speakers and Ult Field 7, this speaker has multicolored light games synchronized to the rhythm of music. These are fully controllable and customizable via the Sound Connect app.
Removable straps, IP67 certification and redesigned design
Both intended for nomadic use, the Ult Field 3 and Ult Field 5 share several characteristics. Unlike their elders with a curved design, they are first adorned with an almost perfectly rectangular chassis. In addition, like the last cuvée of JBL speakers, they are delivered with removable straps allowing them to move from sedentary nomad use to the blink of an eye. The two speakers also benefit from an IP67 certification allowing them to be immersed in water and protecting them from dirt and rust. For the Ult Field 3 only, Sony announces increased resistance to shocks.
We also find the Sound Field Optimization technology, which optimizes the sound rendering of the speaker according to ambient noise, as well as compatibility with the Party Connect function to implement a pair of stereo speakers and synchronize up to 100 speakers between them. Of course, each speaker is controlled via the Sound Connect app.
Ult Tower 9: your festivities on battery or sector
Sony has also announced a lightened version of the huge Ult Tower 10 evening speaker. Called Ult Tower 9, this model has more contained dimensions (410 x 456 x 910 mm), despite practically identical sound architecture. There are two tweeters, two medium speakers and a woofer placed on front. It also benefits from a pair of tweeters oriented towards the rear and a subwoofer oriented downwards, granted with vents placed on both sides of the box.
In terms of features, it obviously stands out for several analog inputs dedicated to the connection of a microphone, a guitar, etc. The Ult Tower 9 can also be synchronized with a Sony TV in Wireless mode to strengthen immersion in a home cinema setting. Despite its dimensions, the speaker can still be moved quite easily thanks to large rigid handles and solid wheels. The Ult Tower 9 has a rechargeable battery whose autonomy extends at 25 h. It is also available under a version called Ult Tower 9AC only supplied on the mains.
The Ult Field 3 and Ult Field 5 speakers are already available at the respective rates of € 200 and € 300. The Ult Tower 9 and Ult Tower 9AC are offered at prices of € 1,000 and € 700.
