Want to kiss Linux, but to continue playing? GLF OS distribution is for you
A Linux distribution designed for players
Very often the main barrier when it comes to leaving Windows, the practice of video games on Linux is rarely simple (when possible). The democratization of systems like Steamos or Proton has improved things for the sons of the years, but this element remains an important obstacle to the adoption of Linux by the players.
This is where GLF OS comes in, a Linux distribution powered by a team under the leadership of the Vinceff user. Based on Nixos with a default Gnome environment (Changing to KDE is possible), this beta version is announced as “fully functional”. The official site also indicates the presence of “several tools developed internally in particular to facilitate the configuration of hard drives or to change the GLF OS experience in a few clicks.”
A solution with multiple advantages
Wanting to be accessible, GLF OS is compatible with any PC X86_64 and has a set of preinstalled and configured tools to play under Linux using without constraints (Steam, EA, Epic, Gog …): Steam, Lutris, Heroic Games Launcher and Mangohud. Device management is not forgotten, including steering wheel (Thrustmaster, Fanatec, Logitech) or controllers (Xbox, Switch, PlayStation, 8bit).
Two branches of GLF OS are offered: stability and security for a stable and successful experience, and freshness and innovation for players looking for the latest technologies and the best performance. The whole is available for download on the official website. To be able to run GLF OS, it will be necessary to have at least a PC with 8 GB of RAM, 60 GB of storage space and a GPU of a level at least higher than that of an NVIDIA RTX 2000.
