If there is one thing that Waze knows how to do it very well, it is warn the drivers of radars surrounding during our journeys. To help them further, Google’s GPS navigation application is now enriched with 12 new dedicated icons specifying the nature of each control by radar … but not in France.

France goes under the radars of this novelty of the Waze application

The recent newsletter of Waze has enough to make drivers dream: “The new types of Waze radars allow you to drive with full knowledge of the facts and to adapt to what awaits you”.

This is happening purely and simply by adding 11 icons next to the traditional logo, thus specifying the data that the radar checks:

  • Speed
  • Red light
  • Speed + red light
  • Stop
  • Reserved route
  • Carpooling
  • Bus Lane
  • Mobile phone
  • Noise
  • Safety distance
  • Belt

We are also entitled to a specific icon to identify mobile police radars, that is to say the patrols under control outside the road.

All this allows drivers to spare their bad habits in order to avoid a fine. However, French legislation comes to put a clear brake to Waze users who would already be delighted with this novelty.

Indeed, reports in GPS applications in France can only be made to indicate danger zones, and not to mention directly and precisely the presence of a radar or a police check.

Waze’s efforts with these new icons should therefore never arrive in France, thus reserving this advantage for drivers abroad. Our attention therefore remains in order to avoid losing points on our license, and especially money.
