It is never too late to get back to sport. To go smoothly without neglecting the efficiency, the jump rope is a good solution: you can go at our own pace, choose to make short sessions or fractional.
After testing the Xiaomi Smart Jump Ropewe wanted to repeat the experience. This time, the jump rope is not connected, but it has a calorie and jump counter and it chronicles training.

The jump rope is delivered with a rope and two weights, depending on the configuration chosen by the user.
Training outside and inside
With the 800 Decathlon rope, few apologies are valid to avoid carrying out your session. The rope can adopt a classic format, with a 3 m rope to hang on the two handles. To adjust it well, the user must hold the handles and stretch the arm horizontally: the rope should barely touch the ground.
This configuration is perfect for training outdoors or in a dedicated place, such as a gymnasium or a training room.
We tested the Decathlon jump rope in a gym, here the fitness park of Boulogne-Billancourt.
For those who train at home or in a more confined place, the rope can quickly become disabling. It remains the possibility of removing it to hang the two weights instead. The two balls then try to reproduce the sensations of a rope, while being silent and less invasive. They are also reassuring for beginners, impressed – or even discouraged – by the rope and the possible falls that are granted.

The string attachment system is simple is effective.
A jump rope that does not lose the wire
To support users in their sports practice, the Decathlon jump rope has a counter. She thus has the number of jumps made, she chronicles training and estimates the calories burned. For that, it is based on the weight of the user.
A digital display takes up this data. Basic and very compact, it lists the information and lights up with each interaction. Without this lighting, it is complicated to read what is displayed, for lack of light.
Here we asked the rope to ring after 100 jumps. We had done 11 in 16 seconds.
Either. Once the weight is recorded and the jumps started, the jump rope launches the count. The seconds parade, just like calories and jumps.
To go further, Decathlon provides two removable weights, of 100 g each. They can hide inside the handles and accentuate the difficulty of training. Because if the jump rope helps to improve cardio, it also helps to improve the tone of high body muscles, such as arms, shoulders and abdominals. Lester the rope challenges the user a little more.
Limited use
If training is more supervised thanks to the Decathlon jump rope, it remains free-perhaps too free. Indeed, we tried to do a session at intervals. We pay our weight and ask the rope to ring after 1 minute of exercise. Perfect: Decathlon rings to tell us to stop. It gives us the calories and the jumps made.

But it stops there. Not connected, the rope does not allow you to record its sessions or its data. Once the session is finished, the data disappears and cannot be compared with those of previous days or weeks; Unlike the Xiaomi Smart Jump Rope which offers monitoring thanks to the dedicated mobile application.
It is also not possible to launch a programmed session so that the rope organizes alone at each break. It is necessary to manually adjust the number of jumps to be carried out or the duration of the drive so that the rope then sounds. The procedure is to be reiterated at the start of each session. For fractional, you have to launch a minute of training, then again, then again … without the compiled data being accessible.
Unconnected, the jump rope requires a button battery to work.
A rope with a very relative ergonomics
If a screen is installed on one of the two handles, it remains very basic and of low quality. As we said, a mobile application is missing to record your performance and compare them from one session to another.
Finally, the Decathlon rope commands are very summary. The two buttons are very discreet – too much. It is sometimes difficult to press one by insulating the other. Above all, orders are not obvious. It is necessary to press on the one on the left to light the rope and maintain it … 10 sec to turn it off. The right control, it allows you to adjust one or the other data, such as choosing to put a stopwatch.
If the instructions seem simple on paper, in practice, it’s another pair of sleeves. The rope does not always respond immediately and you have to take it over several times.
In summary, the Decathlon jump rope is a good tool to get back to a sporting activity and timed its session or count its jumps. Other than that, we quickly meet the limits of the rope, because its features are very superficial. It is especially useful for those who seek to do without a rope or practice in silence.
