Huawei is banking on an almost unchanged design. The Mate It hides an 8-inch interior panel, complemented by a 6.49″ external screen, both based on Oled technology. But this theoretical thinness hides an element that should not be overlooked: a back photo block that is more protruding than ever. The manufacturer intends to always be at the forefront of image capture, and does not intend to try to hide this photo block.

New developments in terms of sustainability
If we spot a few new design flourishes (a textured shell adding to the burgundy imitation leather that we already knew), the improvements made by the manufacturer to its device are invisible. He indicates that he has worked to strengthen the hinge of the
We remember even more that the smartphone is certified IP58 and IP59, where the Mate IP69 standard). In short, hardware durability is more in the spotlight… even if software durability is not mentioned at all by the manufacturer.
An ever more massive photo block
If, on paper, the photo pane of the Mate X7 is not very different from that of the Mate X6, Huawei is still improving it. We first find a 50-megapixel main sensor, always accompanied by a wide-angle lens with an aperture varying from f/1.49 to f/4; It is above all the size of the sensor that has been revised, since it now measures 1/1.28”, and promises to capture more light, and therefore produce more detailed images.
The telephoto lens module (periscopic) adopts the same definition of 50 megapixels, this time accompanied by optics equivalent to 81 mm (f/2.2), for a x3.5 zoom. Huawei assures that, here too, the quantity of light captured increases drastically, while the module is a little more compact than that of the Mate X6. Fortunately, given the size of the resulting photo block!

A third ultra-wide-angle module (40 Mpx, f/2.2) completes this set, as does a color sensor. We will have to test these cameras in the laboratory, but it is clear that our first tests reveal pleasant colors and a high level of detail.
An XXL battery
The Mate X7 finally benefits from a 5600 mAh battery, rather comfortable by market standards (4700 mAh for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7for example), and which explains its rather high weight of 236 g. This battery is accompanied by fast wired (66 W) and wireless (50 W) charging. Huawei does not detail more than usual the Kirin chip which powers its terminal – still incompatible with 5G – but is more precise in terms of software. AI functions reminiscent of what its competitors offer, AI Remove (equivalent to the magic eraser allowing you to retouch photos), AI Best Expression (the counterpart of Best Take) or Face to Face Translation (face to face translation) are included.
Promising in terms of image capture, refined in terms of design and solidity, in short, testifying to an exciting technical mastery, the Mate A daring bet therefore, since its release is indeed planned on the French market.
