WF-C710N: Sony muscle its mid-range headphones without pricing
After several leaks of official visuals and characteristics initiated by The Walkman BlogSony finally reveals WF-C710N, its new intermediate range headphones. They have the ambition to improve the characteristics of their elders WF-C700Nto date obsolete compared to competition, without the slightest price increase.
Tactile controls and port sensors for more ergonomics
If the WF-C710N resume the design and the intra-ear in-ear format, they now adopt touch controls offering them a more refined appearance. As long as they are quite reactive, these controls should avoid having to exert unpleasant pressure in the ear canal.
The WF-C710N also modernize the formula of their big brothers thanks to port sensors allowing an automatic reading/break of music when they are put or removed. An essential function for any pair of headphones True Wireless well thought out. Obviously, IPX4 certification is always part for resistance to dust and splash.
Improved noise reduction and new transparency mode
WF-C700N already had a noise reduction system. However, WF-C710N would offer a more effective capture and cancellation of ambient noise using two microphones per listener. In addition, they are now equipped with transparency mode (Ambient Sound) to allow us to remain alert to the environment.
The Sony Sound Connect app (iOS & Android) comes to adjust the intensity of the noise reduction or select Voice Passthrough, an additional mode designed to amplify the voices of our interlocutors. The learning also authorizes the configuration of the adaptive sound control function, which learns from our movement habits to automatically modulate the intensity of the noise reduction according to our actions. However, Sony does not mention any improvement in microphones dedicated to telephone calls. In order to reduce ambient noises, they would always use Precise Voice Pickup technology.
Unchanged sound architecture, limited connectivity …
The audio architecture of WF-C710N is probably equipped with the same 5 mm transducers as their elders. So we should not expect a sound restitution worthy of Linkbuds Fitwhich take the 8.4 mm units of the renowned WF-1000XM5. Recognized to take on a plethora of features, the Sony Sound Connect app will obviously access an equalizer and pre -established sound modes in order to personalize the tone of the earphones. Finally, we regret that the Bluetooth connection is limited to AAC and SBC codecs, knowing that the Linkbuds made authorize a lossless reception thanks to the LDAC and a reduced latency thanks to the audio standard.
Sony would also have improved the autonomy of WF-C710N. They would be able to play music for 8 h 30 min with the noise reduction activated and up to 12 noon without, against 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. for their elders. Headphones True Wireless Sony WF-C710N are already available in pre-order at a price of € 120 in translucent, pink, black and white blue finishes.
