Jean Pormanove died on the night of Sunday, 17 to Monday, August 18, 2025, near Nice, in full live. The prosecution opened an investigation on Tuesday, August 19. This whole case relaunches the debates around Kick, a controversial and competing streaming platform of Twitch with very light moderation.

Who was Jean Pormanove, who died live on Kick?

Raphaël Graven was called “Jean Pormanove” Or “JP”. It was a small village north of Nice, that the streamer died. He participated in videos in which he suffered violence and humiliations from his partners “Naruto” And “Safine”. Mediapart had also alerted in this regard in 2024 and the two men had been placed in police custody but nothing afterwards despite the reports.

Kick was launched in 2022. It is an Australian streaming platform which directly competitions Twitch with the same concept. Streamers are launching direct and broadcast content, whether gaming, games of money or discussions and interactions with the cat in real time.

To attract streamers, in addition to its very light moderation, Kick donates 95 % of income. Twitch is 50-50 and the Australian company therefore takes advantage of this disadvantage to convince.

Among Kick’s major personalities are Xqc, Ninja or Amouranth. But as explained previously, moderation is so light that Kick attracts streamers banished from Twitch for hateful comments or dangerous behavior. Andrew Tate and Adin Ross have their place there. The second streamer city also invited the supremacist Nick Fuentes, banned from YouTube.

Faced with this lack of moderation, Jean Pormanove has established himself as the most followed of streamers in France with 500,000 subscribers and thousands of viewers. On X circulates a Google Drive which compiles 1,700 videos extracted from the Streams of Jean Pormanove. We see acts of violence and humiliations against the 46 year old man from “Naturo”,, “Safine” and other accomplices.

What is Kick, a controversial platform?

Kick has been launched by stake co -founders, the online betting leader since 2017. The streaming platform was then prohibited from activity in some countries because of these games of money. In France, game broadcasts have been prohibited since 2024 to “compliance with the regulatory requirements specific to French -speaking communities”.

Since the death of Jean Pormanove, Clara Chappaz, Minister Delegate for Digital, has been expressed on the case by speaking on X of a “Absolute horror”. Arch was seized, a report was made on Pharos. L’AFP Has tense the microphone in Kick, who answered “Not to be able to give any information because of his privacy policy”.

If Kick avoids the question, old publications show the French account of the Australian platform which would have fun with the humiliations suffered by Jean Pormanove. The Screenée publication dates from August 24, 2024 and seems legitimate even if deleted. Answers on the same date tagging @kick_fr are always available and resume the term “Legit”reinforce its veracity.

Other screenshots show that the official French Kick account participated in the harassment of Jean Pormanove in a certain way. Where at least maintain the “show” Around the bullying he suffered.

The case does not stop at the online spheres, since television news like TF1, France Télévisions or M6 spoke of this case. The dimension is global: many American users share extracts from humiliations experienced by Jean Pormanove. Media addressed the subject as The Guardian or the Bbc.

Adin Ross, which we were talking about previously, Figure of Kick, also spoke on X to announce that he would finance the funeral of Jean Pormanove. Canadian rapper Drake will also participate.

“It is awful and disgusting. Those who participated in this drama must pay the consequences”writes Adin Ross in a message posted on X to his 325,000 subscribers. “I just talked with Drake. He and I will pay for the funeral. It will not bring him back, but that’s the least we can do. My prayers go to Jean’s family”he concludes.

Adin Ross has been a social media star since 2020, where he had specialized in gaming on Twitch. Little by little, his community is growing until receiving celebrities like Drake. Except that after a few controversies, Twitch banned Adin Ross for “Insults, symbols or emblems of hate groups and harmful behaviors”.

The ban also would have a link with the proximity between Adin Ross and Andrew Tate, a masculine influencer. The streamer was very supported in the face of this sanction.

Does Kick try to calm the game?

Adin Ross has since come closer to Donald Trump and a meeting took place between them while the streamer wore a Maga cap. As previously discussed, the Kick star also received Nick Fuentes, supremacist and negationist of the holocaust who positions himself against the right to vote for women.

Since then, Kick has been the platform where Adin Ross has broadcast its streams with much more flexible moderation and more favorable income sharing barely 5 % commission. According to rumors, the Australian platform has even offered $ 100 million for exclusivity, even if the main interested party denied it in Jake Paul’s podcast. Adin Ross also suggested that each stream is paid for more than $ 10,000 per hour.

Inevitably, faced with this proximity between Adin Ross and Kick, many believe that the influencer offers to pay the funeral to calm the game. Drake also has financial links since he is under contract with Stake, precisely led by the creators of Kick, Edward Craven and Bijan Tehrani. The Canadian rapper has an account on Kick where he is followed by more than 300,000 people.

In short, big suspicions of a marketing operation to calm the game are taking shape on social networks like X. But most of the comments congratulate Adin Ross and Drake for their financial gesture.
