Sony has been present for several years on the gaming audio market with its PlayStation branded range, which includes the headset Pulse Elite and headphones true wireless Pulse Explore. For the first time, the Japanese brand is now venturing into the field of speakers dedicated to gamers with the Pulse Elevate. This model expected for 2026 promises a three-dimensional listening experience and great flexibility of use thanks to battery operation.

Featuring an atypical design, these PlayStation speakers are similar to the stereo PC speakers already on the market. Far from the traditional rectangular format of wireless hi-fi or monitoring speakers, they feature a rounded silhouette, narrowed towards the top, more playful and consistent with the aesthetic of PlayStation consoles. They can be placed flat on their non-slip base, or tilted backwards to direct the speakers directly towards the user’s ears when installed on a desk.

Tempest 3D AudioTech Planar Speakers and Spatial Audio

The acoustic architecture of the Pulse Elevate looks ambitious. Each speaker features planar magnetic drivers.inspired by studio equipment“, supposed to reproduce game soundtracks faithfully to the developers’ intentions. A dedicated woofer supports low frequencies to guarantee deep bass, an essential element for video game immersion. The Pulse Elevates are not limited to a simple reproduction of the audio signal. They are compatible with the proprietary spatial audio format Tempest 3D AudioTech, offering a wider and more immersive soundstage with compatible content.

Sony has not forgotten the importance of in-game voice communications. The right speaker integrates a microphone with AI noise reduction, designed for clear, hands-free conversations without headphones. However, we imagine that the capture quality will be optimal when the user is relatively close to the speakers, therefore on a desk.

Entirely designed for wireless audio reception, the Pulse Elevate offers varied connectivity. Delivered with a PlayStation Link wireless USB-C dongle, they promise lossless and latency-free reception from the brand’s consoles, PCs, Macs and smartphones. The speakers also have a Bluetooth receiver for more traditional music streaming. Note that they allow a simultaneous connection via PlayStation Link and Bluetooth, making it easier to switch from one device to another.

On the controls side, they include buttons located on the top panel of one of the speakers, bringing together the volume control, the PlayStation Link button to quickly switch between different devices, as well as a microphone activation/deactivation button. Advanced settings (equalization, microphone levels, etc.) are accessible directly via the interface of a PS5. A similar tool will be offered on PC shortly after launch.

The Pulse Elevate comes with charging pads, allowing them to keep their battery full even when in use. To transport them and play outside the home, simply slip them into a suitable bag. However, Sony has not yet revealed the announced autonomy.

No price has been communicated at this time. Given the characteristics and promises, however, we can expect a price of between €200 and €300. They will be offered in 2026 in black and white finishes.
