With Windows 11 25h2Microsoft introduces a native option to uninstall its own integrated software, via a group strategy. Presented as a major advance, this possibility was actually already accessible to many European users. But the real change is formalization … and restrictions.

Windows 11 25h2: Microsoft allows (finally) a little cleaning … but not for everyone
Uninstall Paint, Clipchamp or Media Player on Windows 11 ? Yes, it will soon be “officially” possible, but it is not a first. In France as elsewhere in Europe, many Microsoft native applications could already be deleted manuallywithout PowerShell, via settings> Applications> Applications installed, or even a right click from the Start menu.
Since 2023, Microsoft had discreetly expanded this possibility: Cortana, Camera, Cards, Calendar, Films and TV, and even sometimes photos could be uninstalled from the graphical interface, legally. And this, both on family versions and pro – provided you have an up -to -date system.
So what does 25h2 change? One thing: the arrival of a centralized check via the group strategy publisher (Group Policy Editor). Clearly, administrators will be able to define, for a machine fleet, which applications should never be installed or reinstalled automatically, even after a system update. It is clean, stable, and faster, but reserved for pro, education and business editions. The users of the Family editions, them, will have to continue to go through the parameters, or do with what is imposed on them.

There Update 25h2 of Windows 11which includes this new centralized deletion option, is expected for the fall of 2025 in its final version, after a deployment in progress in the Insider channels (DEV and BETA).
