The smell of the new fleet already behind the scenes of Redmond. While Windows 11 24h2 continues its deployment-Sometimes by boxing-, the weak signals of a next version are starting to appear: would Microsoft prepare the arrival of Windows 11 25h2? Nothing official for the moment, but the clues accumulate.

In a recent blog note, the Windows Insider team announced that the DEV channel would switch to a new build of builds, the 26200. Officially, it is still 24h2, but with “Platform changes in the background” deep enough for this branch to move away from the beta versions. Translation: The foundations of the future are being sunk, and everything suggests that it is the 25:2 hour project.
The exercise is known: before each major annual update, the DEV canal enters a change phase where the new features are hidden under the hood. This vagueness is not a coquetry, it is a strategy. Microsoft tests, adjusts, refine… without saying too much. However, those who follow the rhythm of the company will have recognized the symptoms: the 25H2 cycle is most likely being gestation.
But caution: no official mention of a “Windows 11 25:2h” or a “2025 Update”. Microsoft remains silent on the name, features or even the deployment method. Will it be a real change of version or a simple activation package-these light updates that activate functions already present in the system? The second scenario seems the most plausible. Faster to deploy, less risky to maintain, and above all much more flexible to ensure homogeneous compatibility between the different machines.
Why is this deadline so closely scrutinized? Because Windows 10 will live its latest moments next October. The clock turns, and for the posts still under the old OS, the transition to Windows 11 will soon become inevitable. And as long as you take the plunge, many would prefer to avoid 24 -hour pitfalls – between crashs, Bluetooth problems and File Explorer Capricieux – to bet on a more successful version.
If we rely on the usual calendar, Windows 11 25:2h should point the nose in the fall of 2025, between September and October, with a progressive deployment until the end of the year. It would be an ideal window: aligned with the end of Windows 10, and, hopefully, more stable, more efficient and finally worthy of the OS than Microsoft wants to impose.
What can reasonably be anticipated for Windows 25H2
If Microsoft remains discreet on Windows 25H2, some signals allow you to guess the contours of this future update. Without falling into free speculation, several tracks are already taking shape.
First, the further integration of AI is expected. Co -pilot should gain autonomy thanks to the new chips endowed with NPU, especially on ARM and Snapdragon X Elite PCs. The idea: execute certain smart functions locally, without going through the cloud.

Interface side, A more stable version of the file explorer is in the pipeswith better management of tabs and more fluid integration between local and cloud files. The objective is clear: to make the experiment after the failures of 24 hours2.
On the technical level, you can expect targeted optimizations for recent machines, with better resource management, default increased security and a more coherent interface between tablet, laptop and hybrid. Finally, this update could serve as a launch ramp for a post-Windows 10 transition, emphasizing simplicity, fluidity … and a more modern, assumed, and ready for the 2030s.
