While Windows 10 has been a benchmark for years, the adoption of Windows 11 has finally moved up a gear. New data indeed show that the operating system is finally preparing to take the ascendant on the previous version, to the delight of Microsoft.

Windows 11 PC reign started, Farewell Windows 10?

New data from Statcounter have revealed good news for Microsoft: the global market shares of Windows 11 are no longer very far from those of Windows 10.

In June 2025, they were 47.98 % respectively against 48.16 %. We are also entitled to an increase of 4.76 points for Windows 11 and a drop of 4.43 points for Windows 10 compared to the previous month.

The popularity of this version is all the stronger in the United States with 54.72 % market share, 59.01 % in the United Kingdom or 51.58 % in Canada.

The Redmond firm will therefore have more than three and a half years to reverse the balance between its last two operating systems. A logical adoption when you know that the Windows 10 software support ends in October 2025, finally prolonged by one year thanks to the generosity of Microsoft.

This would explain the flight of Windows 11 against Windows 10 in the last 12 months, with growth from one year to the next of +18.23 points; and would finally justify that the update Take the ascendant during the summer on his big brother launched in 2015.

For those who are not convinced by this update, Microsoft recently argued Eight key arguments to go from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It’s up to you to see if it’s convincing enough.

For our part, we advise you to change version as soon as the security fixes are no longer offered – just to protect your personal data in the face of new vulnerabilities.
