Right now, when it comes to Windows 11 and Microsoft, it’s often negative things that come to mind. Between his forcing for abandon Windows 10 or even adding AI everywheremost of Microsoft’s decisions are not unanimous. However, even if the Redmond company can sometimes be slow to relax (this is totally the case here), today we are relaying good news for all users. Via several new features, it seems that Windows 11 will seriously improve its management of applications, and more specifically their updating and uninstallation.
Windows 11 adds basic, but welcome, new features
First, let’s talk about updates. A few months ago, Microsoft launched a program for developers who would like to offer updates to their applications directly within Windows Update.

Today, the latest test version of the OS displays a new section dedicated to application updates in the Applications menu in Settings (and not within Windows Update, therefore). Only the applications which decide to appear there should be displayed there, but this is already a step in the right direction to simplify and centralize these updates which today go through the Microsoft Store or the applications themselves.
As with Windows Update, a button to launch a search is there, and options seem to be offered for receiving application updates depending on your situation (schedules, optional updates, deployment policy, etc.). Practical especially for professionals. All this does not seem to be functional yet and we will probably have to wait a few weeks before it arrives to the general public.

Finally, regarding uninstallation, via the last rich Preview Build 26220.7271 (Dev and Beta channels) Microsoft announced the arrival of an addition so obvious to the Microsoft Store that you wonder why it wasn’t there from the start. Already available in our version of the store on a classic Windows 11, this new feature is simply a new option allowing you to uninstall an application managed by the Microsoft Store directly within the latter.

Now you just have to click on the “…” to the right of an application in its library to uninstall it. No need to go to the Settings Applications section of Windows 11 to carry out this deletion. This is certainly not a revolution, but it allows you to enjoy an OS that is easier to use and an ever more complete and logical store, which certainly won’t do any harm.
