Windows 10 migration to Windows 11, Microsoft’s big challenge
From October 14, 2025, Windows 10 will no longer receive a software or security update, in any case, not for free. A situation which should therefore force many people to go to Windows 11, whether by installing it (for compatible PCs) or by buying a new computer.
Microsoft clearly favors this second option, that he recommends Besides, facing the end of Windows 10. A choice that makes sense with the arrival of a new software dedicated to migration.
In February 2025, we discovered in a Windows 11 beta an official migration tool allowing to transfer all your data to a new PC. Unsurprisingly, a similar solution has just been discovered in a Windows 10 beta.
On Twitter/X, @phantomofearth shared this tool on June 12, 2025, the interface of which is identical to that of the Windows 11 version. The same options are also present: a backup in the cloud or a transfer thanks to two PCs connected to the same WiFi network.
Unsurprisingly, Windows Migration is coming to windows 10 to make it easier to move to 11 as we get closer to eol.

Always under development, this migration software should logically arrive before the end of the Windows 10 support. The opportunity to convince the most refractory to acquire a new PC under Windows 11.
XDA-Developers has a very fair reflection on this subject: “It really looks like another advertising argument that Microsoft could assert when he asks people to go from Windows 10 to 11. After all, if people hesitate to switch to the upper version because of all the data they have to move, maybe Windows Migration could serve as a tilting point to convince them to make the big leap”.
It remains to be seen whether this solution will be enough to convince users to take the plunge … before the reception of October 2025. Some could nevertheless prefer Force the installation of Windows 11 On their old PC, even if the latter is officially compatible with this version.
