Launched with fanfare, the security update of June 2025 for Windows 11 came up against a critical bug: a conflict between the Easy Anti-Cheat anti-triche and the 24H2 version of the system led to unexpected restarts during the launch of certain games. Microsoft reacted quickly, by publishing a cumulative update outside calendar.

Windows 11: The KB5063060 update corrects games related to games and Easy Anti-Cheat

Windows 11 version 24H2, still in progressive deploymenthas just received an off-band patch (or “out-of-band”, for purists) called KB5063060. In question: an incompatibility between the monthly safety update KB5060842 and the Easy Anti-Cheat anti-cheat, used by many multiplayer titles. Result for unlucky: black screen, reboot, frustration.

Microsoft specifies that the correction solves a bug where “Windows can restart unexpectedly when a game using the Easy Anti-Cheat service is launched”. This bug would only have touched a limited subset of people, but was enough for the initial update of June to be suspended on the machines concerned.

The new Patch KB5063060 therefore regains all the security fixes of June – including those that blocked users could not receive – while neutralizing the source of the crash. Good news: it is now being deployed via Windows Update and can also be downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Small shadow on the board: another problem persists. On machines with Intel Alder Lake or more recent processors with VPRO, a known bug continues to cause planting to launch games still using old versions of Easy Anti-Cheat. The parade offered by Microsoft? Update the games in question, if the studio maintains them.
