Windows 11: This “resettlement tool” forces you to pay to unlock your PC

It is neither a classic virus nor a simple poorly coded app. This alleged Windows 11 resettlement tool, which has been circulating for a few weeks in Chinese communities, is proposed properly, restarts … Then locks you up from your session. On the screen: a payment request for 98 yuan (around € 13) to unlock the system. A very real trap, and devilishly well camouflaged.

Behind this scam spotted by Neowina mechanism as simple as it is effective: the software actually proceeds to a resettlement of Windows 11. The interface is clean, the menus reassuring. Then, when you restart, no user account is available. Instead, a sober screen displays this message:
Congratulations, you have finished resettlement of the Windows system. Please pay for resettlement services. Payment method: WeChat Pay, Alipay Price to pay: 98 yuan.
No encryption, no lost file – but a locked system, and no way to go around it easily without technical knowledge. The scam is based on a detail: The update to Windows 11 is freebut the “service” here claims to invoice the intervention. Reminder: Microsoft never invoices resettlement.
Even if the amount requested seems low, the process is like an extortion. And it strikes the least experienced, often looking for a miracle tool to reset their PC. The only way to recover your machine without paying? Start in Live USB, remove the verouillée session, or format completely. And above all: never trust an executable found outside the official Microsoft website.
No need for tools to reinstall Windows 11
To reinstall Windows 11 without risking this type of scam, no need to go through a doubtful tool. The simplest and safest method involves system parameters:
- Open Settings> System> Recovery.
- Click Reset this PC.
- Choose keep my files or delete everything as you need.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to start a clean resettlement from the official Microsoft servers.
