Promising 7 years of updates is good, but what about the lifespan of components? WithThe recent outing of Google Pixel 10the question arises once again. Software, phones are at the top, but when inevitable battery or screen problems are manifested, what will be the appeals?

The brand new energy label mandated by the European Union for smartphones allows you to respond in part. Google improved the situation in small touches without upsetting its recipe.
Components that are easier to change
In terms of repairability, the whole new generation of Pixel phones obtains a B except the Pixel 10 Pro Fold which, probably because of its foldable design, only drops a C. compared to the model of the previous generation, efforts were therefore made since only the Pixel 9 obtained a B last year, while the 9 pro and 9 pro XL collected a C.
Where Google seems to have improved things the most is on the “Disassembly depth», That is to say the number of steps necessary for replacing priority parts, such as the battery, the screen, the speaker or even the photo modules. To put it more clearly, the critical components of the Pixel 10 should be easier to change than on the Pixel 9.

An observation confirmed by the “tools” note which goes from 1.75/5 to 2.8/5 between Pixel 9 and Pixel 10. Concretely, this means that Google should make available easily (and without too many additional costs) the tools necessary for the disassembly of the phone. What encourage those who want to embark on the great adventure of phone DIY. On the other hand, most Google mobiles still seem to have resorting to glue rather than elements of reusable fixings to hold the components in place.
What about the price of parts?
Nothing to report on the marks on spare parts, the duration of updates or the availability of the documentation, Google is once again making a faultless with its Pixel 10. Let us note all the same thatThe European repairability note takes less account of the price of spare parts than the old Franco-French note And it could therefore be unpleasant surprises hiding on this side.
Regarding sustainability, no worries either. The new Google phones are all classified as “A” on falling resistance tests. They are also all certified IP68, ensuring them resistance to the penetration of water or dust.
On the other hand, the endurance of the long -term battery is not among the best, since 1000 cycles will be enough to pass under the 80 % of residual capacity. If you charge your smartphone every day, you will take a little less than 3 years to lose 20 % of the capacity of your battery. Other higher -end mobiles from Samsung easily hold the 2000 cycles before going below 80 %.
