Microsoft discreetly prepares its next consoleand the first filtered information evokes a monster of power. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, the Xbox “Magnus” would benefit from technologies still unpublished on console: CPU Zen 6 engraved in 3 nm, GPU RDNA 5, GDDR7 memory… All cut to offer a fluid 4K experience up to 120 images per second. And this time, it would not be a simple refreshment, but a real generational leap, far beyond the PS5 PRO.

Xbox Magnus: The next console would aim from 4K to 120 Hz thanks to AMD Zen 6

The chain Moore’s Law is deadoften well informed, reveals what could be the first real overview of the future Xbox. Called Magnus, it would enter its final development phase, with an exit targeted between the end of 2026 and 2027. Its architecture? A duo of AMD chiplets carrying a Zen 6 Nm processor and an RDNA 5 graphic chip, identified as the Die AT2 – the same as the one planned for mid -range Graphics Cards on PC.

The technical sheet mentioned leaves thinking: 68 activated calculation units, GDDR7 memory bus in 192 bits, FSR compatibility, optimized Ray Tracing, complete Xbox Retrocompatibility … All coupled with 32 GB of RAM to power native 4K120.

On the performance side, the Xbox Magnus would target a level equivalent to that of a future mid -range raft, positioned in front of a card like the RTX 5080 – Or an estimated gain between 50 and 100 % compared to the PS5 PRO, depending on the graphic load.

Microsoft could also play the industrial optimization card by reusing this same graphic die on PC and console, thus reducing costs and improving the stability of pilots.

And price side? There Xbox Series X is currently sold for € 599.99 in France, since the increase applied in May 2025. For comparison, the PS5 PRO, launched at the end of 2024, is displayed at € 799.99 including tax for its version without a reader. In this context, an Xbox Magnus equipped with cutting -edge components could not reasonably be offered for less than € 800. With performance expected as twice as much as that of the PS5 Pro, the price could even reach € 1,000, clearly placing the console in the very high -end segment.

Pending a possible public prototype or an official teasing, one thing seems acquired: Magnus does not play in the same courtyard as his predecessors.
