Xpeng X9

Xpeng is one of the manufacturers who benefits the most from the drop in sales of Tesla. This Chinese brand offers modern electric cars, very inspired by the productions of the American manufacturer, but which stand out by certain technological advances such as records times.

For the moment, the Xpeng range in Europe is however reduced and in particular in France where the brand offers only two SUVs, the G6 and G9. Some therefore await the arrival of electric sedans in the French range of Xpeng, which already offers its P7 in other European markets. But it is not the only bodywork proposed by Xpeng that could arrive with us. Thus, the brand has markets the X9 van in China since 2023 and prepares its launch in Europe.

A luxury van more than a family minivan

Xpeng has already formalized the arrival of the X9 in certain European markets in the second half of 2025. The French market is not part of it, but the launch of the model with us is under study. The brand undoubtedly wishes to surf the drop in the offer of minivans in Europe and the lack of electric models. However, if Xpeng presents his X9 as a “True French -style minivan”it was developed according to the expectations of the Chinese market and more generally Asian, where large minivans and vans play the luxury card more than family attributes.

Thus, the X9 measures 5.29 m long and 1.99 m wide, 15 cm and 6 cm more respectively than the electric van Mercedes EQV, which would be its main competitor on the European market. The X9 has two seats in rank 2 known “Business Class”with a 21.4 -inch tactile rear screen, while row 3 consists of a more traditional three -seater bench. This makes it a seven -seater model, at least in the configuration he already offers in China.

The X9 thus resumes a very popular positioning in Asia and which made the success of the Toyota Alphard, in particular, or its cousin Lexus LM, recently proposed in Europe. The fact remains that this market is much more limited to us. Also, Volvo did not wish to market its EM90 electric van in Europe, where the MPVs (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) The most popular are compact minivans focused on practical aspects and which have already given way to SUVs.

Only 12 min load of 10 to 80 %

The fact remains that, on this micro-market, the Xpeng X9 will have a major argument to be asserted. Thus, it announces a load of 10 to 80 % in just 12 min, twice as quickly as current standards. This performance applies to the entry -level model propulsion with standard autonomy, equipped with an LFP battery of 94.8 kWh for a maximum autonomy of 650 km, according to the very optimistic Chinese cycle CLTC. Its 800 V architecture allows it to load up to 480 kW in peak. However, most rapid charging stations do not exceed 350 kW in Europe, which should slightly extend charging times. The latter will therefore be compared to the other versions of the X9, equipped with an NMC battery of 105 kWh, which announce a 10 to 80 % in 20 min, which remains very good. The CLTC autonomy is given for 740 km in propulsion version and 702 km for the four -wheel drive model.

The X9 starts in China at ¥ 399,800, or nearly € 48,000. In Europe, we imagine that it could be marketed at around € 80,000. A Mercedes EQV is for example sold in France from € 87,814.80 including tax. The Xpeng X9 is therefore likely to confine itself to a luxury shuttle role, as is the case with its main competitor.
