OpenAI is launching a pilot program for this new feature which allows everyone to ask questions to the chatbot. For example, participants can ask ChatGPT to organize events such as dinners, outings or even professional projects.

Group chats are coming to ChatGPT

Group conversations are obviously separate from solo sessions. OpenAI guarantees that private messages will never be shared with members of groups added to the session via the dedicated sharing link.

For the moment, this new feature is only accessible in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan. For the United States and Europe, including France, you will have to wait a little. OpenAI is offering this pilot program in waves to collect initial feedback and correct any problems.

“Group chats are starting to roll out on mobile and web for signed-in ChatGPT users on ChatGPT Free, Go+, and Pro plans in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan. This pilot is a small first step toward shared experiences in ChatGPT, and we plan to learn from early adopter feedback to inform how we expand it to more regions and ChatGPT plans.” explains OpenAI on his blog.

For users who have access to this feature, there is now an icon that represents multiple people in the upper right corner of a session. When clicked, a sharing link is generated and then creates a separate discussion for group members. Group conversations are placed in a special part of the sidebar for easy access.

After the testing phase, OpenAI will therefore decide whether this new feature will be extended to other territories and subscriptions. It is possible that its availability in France depends on feedback following this first part of the pilot program.
