Gemini speaks on your Google documents

In a blog post shared this August 18, 2025, Google announced a new breakthrough of Gemini in Google Docs. AI is indeed welcome to Reinvent word processing. Far from assisted writing tools, automatic summary or generation of already integrated drafts, Gemini now speaks to offer another way of sharing his documents.

The menu Tools adapts to a section Audio With an IA option to read all the text of a tab (Listen to this tab). To make listening even more personalized, Google offers several voices adapted to different styles: narrator, educator, teacher, persuasive, explains, coach and motivating.

In order to even encourage audio playback of a document, users can also directly insert a dedicated button (Insert > Audio). The opportunity to transform the consultation and sharing of documents, with the audio which replaces the reading.

Note, this feature is currently reserved for professional users using the suite Workspace from Google, but also to individuals subscribed to AI Pro and AI Ultra formulas. Small additional disappointments: only the English language and the office version of Google Docs are for the moment supported.

The future of audio on the documents of the Google suite would not however stop in such a good way, since we learned last April that it would be possible to make podcasts – a process for the moment reserved for the tool Notebooklm.
