“Your thermal car prohibited for resale”: watch out for these false information that swarms on Tiktok
False information is increasing, especially on Tiktok © Jrdes/Shutterstock
Between bots, the contents generated by AI, false trailers and fake news, navigating the Internet in 2025 without succumbing to fallacious content has become complex. This observation is all the more true on the Tiktok social network, where a new video View, shared and commented on hundreds of times is currently prevailing.
All social networks victims of false information
Created by an account whose pseudo is info_108 to try to gain some credibility, this video declares that from June 1ᵉʳ it will be prohibited to resell its thermal car, both petrol and diesel. To put oil on the fire and make react in comment, the creator of this fake news asks if it is “Just for the environment or unfair for those who cannot afford to change.“”
This false information obviously recalls a law, it is very real, which says that in 2040 the sale of new thermal vehicles will normally be prohibited in France (and not 2035 as requests Europe).
Many clues not to be fooled
In an attempt to give weight to this information which obviously leaves nowhere, the voiceover declares that the decision comes from Bruno Retailleau (writes “Retaillot” elsewhere …). However, the latter is Minister of the Interior and not Minister of Ecological Transition, and would therefore have nothing to do with such a decision if it were to exist. In addition, beyond the very low credibility of an account named Actus24H with the pseudo info_108 compared to a very real media, the video is full of spelling mistakes and a more than questionable formatting.

If guessing that this video is false is therefore quite simple, in the future it is very likely that the form of these false information may improve. Caution will therefore be specially in order, and check the source and the page that causes such information will be crucial. Also remember to check the nicknames of the pages concerned, because the embezzlement of identity are legion.
In the meantime, on Tiktok this account is not the only one to rage and deliver such “Breaking News” designed only to generate traffic and debate on wind. In a context where we have never been so quick to quickly indignant at the slightest information, before reacting and sharing a video or a link, take 30 seconds to check whether it is true or not.
