YouTube Premium tests a new, very demanded subscription, including in France

By multiplying advertisements and fighting against blockers and other VPNs, Google absolutely wants youtube users going through the premium box. To try to motivate more and more, the firm is testing today a new subscription formula, which Spotify users and other Deezer already know: a subscription for two people.

YouTube tries a premium subscription for two

Spotted by MoneyControl via Android Authority, then confirmed by a spokesperson at The Verge, this novelty is only a test in a few countries. Only a handful of selected users in India, Taiwan, Hong Kong and France, can see the option on YouTube.

We experience new ways to offer more flexibility and value to our Premium YouTube subscribers, in particular by offering a premium package option for two people, allowing two people to share a subscription at a reduced cost.

A package adapted to couples or roommates

This new package “for two” is billed € 19.99 per month, or around € 10 per person (therefore € 120 for one year per person). Note that the person invited to join the person who subscribes must be over 13 years old and belong to the same home. Recall that a premium YouTube account for a person is charged € 12.99 per month (€ 156 for a year). Over twelve months, it is therefore € 36 saved per person with the formula for two compared to the particular formula.

This package, if it were to be deployed more generally, completes a family offer (€ 23.99 per month) and student (€ 7.99 per month.
