Barely in hand, the CMF Phone 2 Pro affirms its parentage with Nothing: minimalism, choice of materials and detail care is there. This new iteration claims a notable finesse of 7.8 mm for a featherweight of 185 g, 12 g less than its predecessor. Its metal chassis is accompanied by a triple photo module with aluminum outline, while the stainless steel screws recall the industrial spirit of the previous generation.
If the removable design of the apparatus harms its waterproofing, it progresses slightly compared to the IP52 certification of CMF Phone 1. This improvement (IP54) guarantees it better protection against dust and water, even if the immersion remains excluded. Proposed in black, white, orange and light green, the brand treats its finishes with, at the back, almost as many different textures: frosted glass for black and light green – exemplary that we have received -, sandstone for white and metal for orange.
A fluid and bright screen
On the entry -level segment, the display quality is rarely a priority. Nevertheless, CMF seems to have pampered its phone 2 pro with an amoled slab of 6.77 inch in FHD+ definition and HDR10+ compatible. It has a brightness announced at 3000 cd/m² in HDR peak, which we will not fail to check in the lab.
The display also incorporates an optimized system to reduce eye fatigue during long use sessions. The fluidity is not to be outdone, with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, without LTPO however.
Solid performance on a daily basis
Under the hood, the CMF Phone 2 Pro has a Mediatek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G chip, engraved in 4 nm by TSMC. A performance mode, associated with a new cooling system, makes it possible to take full advantage of the processor, ensuring game sessions up to 120 images per second (I/S) with a stable display and a controlled heating.
Coupled with 8 GB of RAM, with the possibility of adding up to 8 GB of virtual RAM, the smartphone targets fluidity, including in intensive uses such as mobile game or multitasking. While waiting for its passage through our target test protocol, this first use did not reveal any annoying slowdown to us.
A better armed photo shutter
At the rear, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is equipped with three modules capable of covering all the scenarios: two 50 megapixel sensors with EIS, one flanked by a large-angle optics (f/1.88), the other of an X2 optical zoom, as well as an ultra-angle of 8 MPX (F/2.2).
On the front, the screen accommodates a 16 MP selfie camera (f/2.45). The device is also able to film up to 4K at 30 I/S offers several options, such as the 4K time-lapse and the slow-motion at 120 I/s.
Two days of autonomy or nothing
An accumulator with a capacity of 5000 mAh accompanies the whole and ensures, according to the manufacturer, up to two days of conventional use. Like the model released in 2024, this battery is also compatible with the fast load at 33 W (charger not supplied).
CMF promises to recover enough energy to keep a full day after only 20 min load. As a reminder, it took us 1 h 17 min to fill up on Phone 1 last year under the same conditions.
Interface and features: simplicity above all
The smartphone runs on Android 15 via Nothing OS 3.2, the personalized overlay by the London firm. This version highlights two functions seen on recents Phone (3a) And (3a) Pro of Nothing:
- Essential Space: A capture space assisted by AI to effectively organize its personal content.
- Privacy Space: A secure safe safe from the main unlocking password, to protect photos, apps and sensitive documents.
Among other notable new features, the management of the NFC appears, finally allowing contactless payments. Note that the brand is making a little effort in terms of software monitoring, with three years of guaranteed system updates and six years of security patches.
Cheap price positioning
The CMF Phone 2 Pro, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, is now available on The official Nothing website for € 249.
The smartphone retains a modular approach thanks to accessories that we have not been able to try: a shell, interchangeable objectives (Fisheye and Macro), or a card/support holder sold in a bundle up to € 65 for the whole.
